London’s Premiere Pro Audio Demonstration Facility
The Vicoustic Experience Centre, in Fitzrovia, London, is a high-standard professional audio facility used by HHB Communications to demonstrate Dolby Atmos. The studio’s acoustic treatment was conceived by the Vicoustic Project Team to fit the 40 Genelec speakers used throughout the room. The latest generation of sound absorbers Cinema VMT line, custom-designed with the lines from Vicoustic's Wavewood, was a relevant addition to this room.
The challenge of an asymmetrical room
John Johnston, Chief Technology Officer of HHB, worked closely from the inception of this room with the Vicoustic team on a few challenges: "Being an asymmetrical room with some really harsh acoustics to begin with, the team really helped to tailor the end result to mean that we had a controlled space that met Dolby Specs for our Dolby Atmos music production and broadcast playback environment."
Acoustics are paramount to Dolby
"This is a demo facility we use predominantly for training, pre-sales and enabling people to produce and quality control, great work in Dolby Atmos, and so the acoustics were really paramount to get right. We have a number of panels in here from absorbers, diffusers, and bass traps. All of which are aesthetically pleasing and more importantly performing well acoustically. We were really impressed with the fact that every projection we were provided really came good in the real-world measurements."
The facility is managed by HHB Communications Ltd, and the panels are supplied by Source Distribution.
