Echo problem detected

Groundworks Operations, one of the United States' largest foundation repair companies, needed to convert a large warehouse room with a 15' ceiling into a 150-employee training room, in their home office, based in Virginia Beach. Eric Rollins, Senior Director of Facilities at Groundworks Operations says: "This conversion came with a few roadblocks which are why we brought in Domes Audio Video. They were tasked with supplying us with an audio and projection system."

After installing two projectors and a pendant speaker system for the microphones, Steve Arcese, Design Specialist at Domes AV, noticed they had a serious echo problem. "Vicoustic was sent some floorplans with approximate furniture layout for training and designed an acoustic treatment plan consisting of hanging baffles and wall-mounted absorbers."

"Echo almost nonexisting"

The Flat Panels VMT Concrete with VicSpacer for wall-mounting were the first to be installed, and the specialist concluded there was "an extremely noticeable reduction in the echo". After the Suspended Baffles PET were installed in groups of two in the ceiling, "the echo was almost nonexistent", says Steve, concluding: "The room now has just enough to keep it a live sound but the intelligibility is spot on".

"The acoustic panels are not just effective, they look amazing"

For Eric Rollins, the "noise-reduction panels to eliminate the echo caused by the concrete flooring" were essential for Groundworks. "Steve and his team did a great job with the installation, and we could not be happier with the final product. The acoustic panels are not just effective, they look amazing. I would recommend Steve and his team and their products to anyone trying to elevate their facility to a higher level."

The concept design for this training room was developed for Groundworks Operations by the Vicoustic Project Team. The project was implemented by Domes AV, a Vicoustic's and Focal Naim America's dealer.
