"Acoustic elements create a comfortable and pleasant mood"
The Mainmix recording studio, located in Schwerte, Germany, is used for professional customer projects to work on video, music and radio productions. It is also used to create graphic projects, so the customer is able to get an overview of all the possibilities that the company is offering. Aside from being a recording setup, it required a cozy gathering place look where the customer can always be close by working together on the project.
"The acoustic elements which are used inside create a comfortable and pleasant mood", says Stephan Paul, Sound and Media Technician at Mainmix. "Now the room is perfect for meetings, project work and editing. It also shows a beautiful design inside because of the acoustic elements on each wall. Each element was easy to install and has its own function. In order to get the perfect atmosphere in the room, it is soundproofed, so that every project has the best opportunity to get something amazing."
VicSpacer Plus enhances VMT properties
The studio incorporates innovative acoustic panels made of recycled PET material, Vicoustic's Flat Panel VMT, framed within a structure that enhances absorption and incorporates an air gap, the VicSpacer Plus. This solution offers a minimalist alternative to the need to fill a wall with many acoustic panels, by using less wall surface for acoustic treatment.
VMT panels are designed to effectively absorb sound waves across a wide frequency range, reducing unwanted echoes, reflections, and reverberations within the recording studio. By repurposing PET, durable and lightweight material commonly found in plastic bottles, the users contribute to reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.
The crucial role of the air gap
The acoustic panels are framed within the well-designed fixation structure VicSpacer Plus to enhance their absorption capabilities and optimize sound control within the studio. The frame provides support and rigidity to the panels, ensuring they remain securely in place and maintain their effectiveness over time. The frame is strategically designed to create an air gap between the panels and the wall, which further enhances sound absorption by allowing sound waves to pass through the panels and dissipate within the gap.
The air gap between the acoustic panels and the wall plays a crucial role in improving the studio's acoustic performance. Sound waves that pass through the panels encounter the air gap, which acts as an additional buffer, further reducing reflections and resonances. This design feature helps create a controlled and acoustically balanced environment, allowing for accurate monitoring and precise sound capture during recording sessions.
Landmark acoustic panels
The studio also received the conventional landmark acoustic treatment of Vicoustic, including Cinema Round Premium for sound absorption, Flexi Wave Ultra to promote a more live sound environment and Wavewood Diffuser Ultra MKII and Multifuser DC3 for sound diffusion. Vari Bass Ultra serves as bass trap.
The Mainmix studio is located in Main, at An der Silberkuhle 6, 58239 Schwerte. Learn more on Mainmix website.
