Acoustics for stadium benches
Gran Canaria Arena is a sports pavilion located in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain, that offers a capacity for nearly 11,000 spectators, and is the home arena of Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria.
To develop acoustic treatment for a sports complex such as this was a huge challenge, but Vicoustic accomplished it successfully. The demanding sound requirements of this Multi Purpose Arena justified a detailed analysis of the acoustic properties, in order to guarantee an accurate and effective sound treatment. The ceiling was one of the most important aspects to take into consideration. It occupies the largest area of the space and is practically the only area where it was possible to intervene.
Suspended baffles on the ceiling
The panels used for the ceiling were the Suspended Baffle, a product that reduces the reflections and reverberation from the ceiling and other surfaces. The square shaped geometry of the panels aims to decrease the reverberation time along the two major axis of the area.
This solution was updated to new eco-sustainable solutions which include: - Suspended Baffle PET, that has an Euro Class B fire rate classification, a low emitting material, having earned the A+ French VOC label (ISO 16000), and classified as Class 1 according to OEKO-TEX 100 Standard, i.e. meeting the human-ecological requirements presently established for baby articles. - Suspended Baffle 3D VMT, that has a US Class A (ASTM-E84) fire rate classification, made from VicPET Wool, which can contribute to the development of eco-sustainable projects.
Fire rate and Green Building
Both Suspended Baffles are recommended solutions for buildings that require fire rate classification and that aim to achieve Green Building Certification, helping the project developer to earn credits normally available in schemes such as WELL, HQE, DGNB, CASBEE, BREEAM, etc.
