How to design a listening room

A true audiophile listening room requires sound treatment that can be dealt with different kinds of acoustic panels, from traditional sound absorbing panels to sound diffusion panels and bass traps.

For its showroom in Seoul, South Korea, SOHGOM received a Hi-End Room Project Gift Box, which was used to request a project design combined with an acoustic study to Vicoustic. The brand's Project Team proposed an ensemble of the latest generation of solutions developed by the brand, making it the state-of-the-art listening room of the future.

A full kit for audiophiles

The VicAudiophile VMT Kit presented the most efficient solution since it mixed sound-absorbing panels to control early reflections by taking energy from them, which is done by Vicoustic’s Flat Panel with VicSpacer Plus, and the VicPattern Ultra Wavewood panels. Additionally, the kit has sound diffusing panels (Multifuser Wood MKII), which will control the reflections by spreading the energy evenly by the room, enlarging the listening position and creating a sense of spaciousness inside.

Where to place bass traps

Based on a room modes study, Vicoustic's team of Acousticians has recommended the use of Super Bass Extreme and the broadband high-efficiency solution Mega Bass Trap XXL, which were positioned in the corners of the room, where the maximum pressure levels occur within the room.

High quality sound absorbers

For further results in sound absorption, the high-quality Cinema VMT Piano was added to the mix, creating an interesting contrast in design. Since the ceiling also required sound diffusion, Multifuser DC3 ended up being the most suitable alternative for ceiling acoustic treatment.
