The interior design of a restaurant or café is essential for drawing customers in, but it’s the comfort of the space that makes them want to stay. At the newly opened Bike Café (Beeceler) in Paços de Ferreira, stunning architecture and premium acoustic treatment ride in tandem to create a truly immersive customer experience.
Spearheaded by the talented architect Anabela Ferreira, this project stands out as a crucial case study in commercial acoustic design. Why? Because excessive reverberation in restaurants is a chronic issue and is often forgotten during planning.
The Challenge: Overcoming the "Café Effect"
For this innovative project blending cycling culture with a premium café experience, the architect prioritized acoustic comfort from day one. The goal: seamlessly integrate high-performance Univicoustic solutions without compromising the venue's unique visual identity.
The Univicoustic Solution: Integrated Design and Customization
To solve these challenges while elevating the Bike Café's aesthetics, a strategic selection of VMT (Virtual Material Technology) products was deployed:
- Circular Synergy with ViCloud VMT 3D: ViCloud VMT 3D Round Colors (White) panels complement the creative bicycle-wheel chandeliers in the hall. These elegant "clouds" manage acoustics in the high-ceilinged space while acting as a natural extension of the lighting design.
- Geometry and Color with Vixagon VMT: To control background noise in the main dining area, Vixagon VMT panels were installed on the ceiling. Custom-colored in vibrant mustard and deep black, these hexagons absorb sound to ensure clear conversations while serving as a striking design centerpiece.
- Invisible Efficiency with Flat Panel VMT: Service areas with hard, hygienic surfaces—like kitchens and restrooms—easily become echo chambers. Discreet, highly efficient Flat Panel VMTs were used here to ensure acoustic comfort for both customers and staff.
Bike Café proves that acoustic treatment shouldn't be an afterthought. By treating acoustics as a foundational pillar of the design, the final result is an inviting, aesthetically flawless environment.
