Red Dot is now officially presenting the winners of the Product Design 2020 awards, on its online exhibition in the Red Dot Design Week. The Jury that selected Vicoustic's new collection GEN_VMT considered it to be a "successful combination" between "innovative technology" and the use of "sustainable materials", since VMT is a high-performance acoustic solution mostly produced from recycled plastic. 

The GEN_VMT PENRAY 02 Tiles, the first set launched in the collection, is shown at the Red Dot Website, a hotspot for best-in-class industrial design, among other highly prestigious winners of this year, such as Apple, Google, Porsche and Ferrari. The statement by the Red Dot Jury is deeply praising and valuing for the GEN_VMT:

"The design of these acoustic panels is highly accomplished in its successful combination of innovative technology with the sustainable use of materials."

GEN_VMT, the Generative Collection is the name of a range of acoustic panels developed by Vicoustic. VMT stands for virtual material technology and is an acoustic solution made of VicPET wool, a non-woven fabric predominantly made of recycled plastic bottles. Thanks to an innovative dyeing technique, it can imitate the look of concrete, marble, wood and other materials. The generative design of this collection is based on geometric research relating to pentagonal tiling and obeys a shape grammar that makes it possible to create a variety of panels with different appearances and endless combinations. The first set of GEN_VMT solutions to be released are the PENRAY 02 Tiles. Presented in 4 different forms in the shape of a pentagon, these tiles can be combined according to each one’s will. This allows generating endless combinations of geometric shapes.
