Vicoustic is presenting GEN_VMT, the Generative Collection, winner of the Red Dot Product Design 2020 Award . A set of acoustic panels with a fresh design concept, it marks the beginning of a new creative paradigma.

In this collection, the innovations introduced by VicPET Wool, mainly produced from recycled plastic (65%), and VMT technology take on a new dimension in terms of design. This allowed the collection to be granted the Red Dot Product Design distinction in the Interior Design Elements category, selected by a jury, whose motto is: “In search of good design and innovation”.

We invite you to explore the amazing world of generative design, where a new set of solutions is rising, inspired by Math, Geometry, and Biomimetic. We are creating generative tiles, panels and acoustic clouds that combine sustainability, innovation and aesthetics. This collection results from geometric research in fields of pentagonal tiling, obeying to a shape grammar that allows generating endless combinations of acoustic tiles and panels, with no limit to creativity.

The first set of solutions to be released are the PENRAY 02 Tiles. Presented in 4 different shapes, these tiles can be combined according to the will of each person. This results of geometric research in fields of pentagonal tiling where each individual piece is in the shape of a pentagon. In this exploratory work we were looking for a shape grammar that allows generating endless combinations of single or double main shapes.

Besides this main approach, we add a new layer of complexity, the ice-ray recursive pattern. The generation of the ice-rays is simple and clear. The rules essentially bisect any existing polygonal shape into two polygonal figures. Variations for this grammar typically consist of changing the resulting combination from two shapes into many different forms that create a triangular profile towards the center.

The next set of products we will be releasing in the GEN_VMT Collection are the PENRAY 01 Tiles, Clouds and Panels. The latest will be an awesome solution to fill out big areas, due to its dimensions. Functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics, everything connected to generate a remarkable product, where the combinations are really endless.

The GEN_VMT acoustic panels are part of the VMT (Virtual Material Technology) Line, a collection of acoustic solutions made from VicPET Wool, a non-woven textile with superb acoustic performance predominantly made from recycled plastic bottles. This material can now be found in state-of-the-art acoustic panels and clouds such as: Flat Panel VMT, ViCloud VMT Flat, ViCloud VMT 3D, VicWallpaper VMT, VicOffice line, and Vixagon VMT.
