Understanding the Spaces and Their Acoustic Needs

Worldwide recognized Avila Spaces, elected the Best Cowork in the World in 2023, identified three distinct spaces in need of acoustic improvements:

Coral Room: A meeting room primarily used for meetings and video conferences.

NIQ Meeting Room: Another meeting room designed for similar purposes.

NIQ Open Office: A large, open-plan office with no partitions.

Each space presented its own unique challenges. The Coral and NIQ Meeting Rooms required acoustic treatment to minimize reflections and reverberations, ensuring crystal-clear communication during meetings and video calls. Meanwhile, the NIQ Open Office needed a solution to manage sound propagation across the open area, enhancing focus and reducing distractions for employees.

Tailored Acoustic Solutions by Vicoustic

To address the specific acoustic challenges of each space, the Vicoustic team proposed the following solutions:

1. Coral Room: Enhancing Clarity and Reducing Reverberation

Vicoustic recommended Vixagon VMT panels be applied to the ceiling for the Coral Room. These hexagonal panels, crafted with Vicoustic’s Virtual Material Technology (VMT), effectively control sound reflections while adding a modern aesthetic. By reducing reverberation, these panels, composed of VicPET Wool, a non-woven textile mainly produced from recycled plastic bottles, ensure optimal sound clarity during meetings and video calls.

2. NIQ Meeting Room: Comprehensive Acoustic Control

The NIQ Meeting Room received a dual approach for better acoustic performance. The sustainable Flat Panel VMT panels were applied to the ceiling to control sound reflections and improve sound absorption. Vixagon VMT panels were installed on the walls, enhancing the room’s acoustic profile and contributing to a sleek, professional look. This combination ensures a balanced acoustic environment, for seamless communication and collaboration.

3. NIQ Open Office: Creating a Productive Open Workspace

The NIQ Open Office posed a different challenge due to its open-plan layout. To maintain a comfortable and productive working atmosphere, we recommended a combination of acoustic solutions: Flat Panel VMT panels on the ceiling to control reverberation and reduce overall noise levels. Vixagon VMT, VicStrip, and VicShape 3D Duo panels were applied to the walls to address sound reflections and diffusion. These elements improve acoustics and add a dynamic, visually appealing design to the space.
